Admiral ship print with original hand colouring also some heightening in gold : The first edition of Mortier's Atlas Maritime, "Neptune François", one of the most spectacular cartographical works ever produced. According to Koeman: "the most expensive sea-atlas ever published in Amsterdam. It's charts are larger and more lavishly decorated than those of any preceding book of this kind. Probably engraved by the famous engraver van Vianen. For the engraving and etching Mortier had recruited the most qualified artists. This atlas has 3 ship prints and the famous poster with war ship parts, cross sections and nautical instruments featured in many books about antique maps.
